Tonight, at the stadium that taxpayers built, Yankees fans are in for a treat. The hometown team is offering all adult fans at the game a free prostate exam as part of a charity event. As if paying $2,500 for a seat to see a game at a half-filled stadium isn’t enough, fans are welcome to drop trow and take it from behind at tonight’s game. Finally, something free at Yankee Stadium!
In all seriousness, I applaud the Yanks for being aggressive with early detection of prostate cancer. Ed Randall’s Bat for the Cure is sponsoring the event, trying to raise awareness of the importance for early detection. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and the second most common cause of death. If discovered early, treatment shows a 97% survival rate.
